Edwin Lester was born in Philadelphia, PA. He is a self-taught artist who brings a very sophisticated and technically advanced style of realism to his figurative and atmospheric paintings. His work centers on themes that are important and personal to him. The narrative approach allows the artist to convey an emotion, a moment in time as if reading without the turning of pages. For the artist, art and life are one, and life and his belief in the teachings of the Bible should leave no canvas unpainted, for the stories are man. He brings the joy he has found in his beliefs to the act of making art. “I just love what I do”, he says in his artist statement, “and when I walk out into the world each day, there is so much to see, so much to paint”. The popular artist has produced a successful line of best-selling limited edition and open edition prints that has exhibited in Galleries and museums across the nation. He is an Award-winning Artist at major Art Events, Fairs and Shows. His work is currently collected and sought after worldwide.
I will never forget the day I met Edwin Lester; I loved his work from the moment I laid eyes on it. I asked about the Artwork “Sheltered” and was fascinated by his response, “he said, if you’d pose for what is now called “Fine Tune” then I’ll gift you Sheltered. I was so elated and honored to be given that opportunity. He directed me to a wooden bench where I sat and held on to a “pretend” Banjo, while Edwin sketched. A couple of Months later, Fine Tune was hand delivered to none other than me. I was so excited to see the finish product. This piece of Art will always mean the world to me, knowing that I played a part in making this happen. You are truly Melanin Power Unleashed, Thank You!
