Adding to its vast lineup of Shopping Bags, Telfar is set to release another colorway dubbed “Leaf.” Not to be mistaken for “Sage,” the green shade is a versatile option for any wardrobe this coming spring.
The foresty hue is splashed onto the New York brand’s unisex Shopping Bags in Large, Medium and Small sizes. Like their predecessors, the purses are highlighted with Telfar’s logo embossed at the front, while featuring handles and a longer strap that allows for crossbody wear. The same color is applied to the Logo Embossed Hat, a cap that comes with velcro closure on the back. The pack is complete with the Logo Belt, which is contrasted with a chrome buckle.
Peep the offerings above. Telfar’s “Leaf” drop is scheduled for 12 p.m. EST on January 27 online.
Telfar Clemens (born 1985 in Queens, New York) is a Liberian-American fashion designer, DJ, and the founder of TELFAR, a genderless fashion label based in Bushwick, Brooklyn
Clemens was born to Liberian parents in Lefrak City, Queens. His family briefly moved back to Liberia but returned to Queens in 1990 to avoid the Second Liberian Civil War. While studying at New York’s P.S. 206, a teacher wrote monograms for all of the students on the board. Clemens’ monogram would become the Telfar logo.
In 2005, while still a student at Pace University, Clemens founded his eponymous, unisex fashion brand, Telfar.
Clemens met Babak Radboy in 2004, who later joined Telfar as creative director and business partner in 2013. In September 2016, Clemens and Radboy worked together on an installation at the Berlin Biennale, accompanied by a video rendered by artists Ryan Trecartinand Lizzie Fitch.
In February 2019, Telfar showed his Fall Winter 2019 collection at Irving Plaza in New York City in an exclusive event celebrating black future(s) month, with 1000 guests, a mosh pit for a runway (models were crowd-surfed through the audience rather than walking down a runway), and live stage music.
