Kim Kardashian West made a dramatic entrance later in the night, completely covered in black from head to toe, her ponytail emerging from the opaque head covering and trains of fabric trailing behind her. The faceless custom Balenciaga look was anything but anonymous.

This gown was inspired by Saweetie’s heritage, one train shows the Filipino flag, the other the Black American heritage flag. The gown features ten million hand placed crystals which are draped to adorn her body with diamond chain and Cowan emblem embellishments.

Last night, September 13th, fashion’s biggest night was held at its usual location: the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The gala was in celebration of the Costume Institute’s newest exhibition, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” which opens to the public in the Anna Wintour Costume Center on September 18th.
